A few interesting instincts of dogs

Dog Care Article

Dogs have some basic behaviors, such as defending their territory, sniffing at strangers or dogs These are all derived from some dog instincts. In this chapter, we will first introduce several common instincts of dogs, and gradually enter the world of dogs:

1. Territory instinct:
Defending homes and their habitats to prevent human or other dog invasions is one of the important instincts of dogs. But strangely, dogs often ignore birds or other animals entering the territory. Why? Some people say this is because dogs view humans and dogs as their own kind, while dogs are more alert to unfamiliar ones.
2. Social instinct:
Wild dogs are often in groups and will follow the leader of a wild dog pack. Domestic dogs also have this awareness, but the difference is that they see the owner as their leader. If a stranger (or dog) is accepted by the leader of the group (dog owner) without any aggressive behavior, the dog will also accept the stranger.
3. Hunting instinct:
Although dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, some dogs still have the instinct to chase and capture prey. They sneak, capture and kill a small animal. But now most dogs only chase their prey for a while. These instincts, along with their mating instincts and food seeking (protective) instincts, constitute the core instincts of dogs. Many habits and behaviors of dogs are caused by these instincts.
